Trouble, Fear, Distress

Psalm 119:143 Trouble and distress have overtaken me, but Your commands are my delight.(HCSB)

When trouble comes, have you ever noticed that it invites distress and fear along as well? One worrisome thought, and then before you know it, a floodgate of worries try to overtake you? It happens to the best of us. To combat this issue, God requires us to keep His commandments in the forefront of our minds, making sure all thoughts are in unison with what He’s spoken to us. He calls this exercise “capturing every thought” and promises that if we remain in Him, His peace, so unique that it’s not even understood, will help us to remain at peace.

Trouble and Distress...You've got the wrong address.
Trouble and Distress…You’ve got the wrong address.

Sometimes the voices of loved ones, friends, or simply someone we’ve interacted with, can speak louder than the voice of our Heavenly Creator. And don’t get me started with what we say to ourselves! Are these voices saying anything that aligns with His Word? If not, you’ve got to get a Second Opinion. Once you know Him better through His Word, you’ll find it’s much easier to recognize when He’s speaking than you ever thought possible. No introductions are necessary.

Need some encouragement to move onward? Continue stopping by to get the truth of God’s Word. Before you know it, you’ll be strong enough to do what David did – encourage himself. Now that’s what I’m talking about! But remember, you just can’t say anything. Learn what’s in the Word so that you can hide it within your heart. Line up your thoughts with those you discover in the Word. When trouble comes along the next time, with its partners in crime, you can just mark them all “Return to Sender” and not even receive them into your spirit or let them impact your environment. After all, He promises to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus. What does all that mean? He’s got your back, protecting you from all sides, even if your circumstances try to tell you differently!.

When was the last time you spoke to Him? Prayer and worship are the best ways to converse with God. Both help to perk up and fine tune your hearing! Your God’s speaking to you right now, and He’s asking, “Do you hear Me now?” Remain in a posture of prayer so that you can answer, “Loud and clear. Speak Lord, your servant is listening and committed to doing Your Will.”
