Where My Help Comes From

We’ve all had those days when we’ve had ENOUGH. As my sister, Sharon, used to say, “I’ve had it up to here (leveling her hand at a point higher than her head), and I’m not even that tall.” Sometimes there are days when the world’s hardships seem way too much to bear.

I remember one day at work some years back when my personal concerns weighed heavily on my mind. I told the Lord, “I don’t know how much longer I can do this.” He whispered, “You do what you can do, and I’ll do the rest.” And so I did. And He did. I simply did what I could do to get through the day and released the rest to the Lord. You know what? I got through that day…and the next. The situation didn’t miraculously disappear, and I definitely wasn’t rescued by a knight in shining armor, but my perspective changed. Sometimes we just have to stand, choosing to glorify the Lord in each step of the process, asking for His help and waiting for Him…yes, waiting for HIM…to move on our behalf. It’s definitely not easy sometimes, but it is doable.

We must pick up our cross, but some burdens the Lord did not intend for us to carry. These burdens cause us to become weary or paralyzed with fear, so we must make sure we’re running to the One who renews our strength. The real question is: Are you doing it? Get in the practice of casting your cares on Him, not your social media friends or even the most concerned person in your life. You’re not being fair to yourself or them, especially when you know your Father is always listening. He stays up late and gets up early just so He can talk with you.

Quick, grab a mirror because it’s inspection time! The joy of the Lord. Check! The mind of Christ. Check! Faith, ’cause we want to please Him. Check! That last thought didn’t look uplifting nor edifying? It’s got to go. Get rid of anything not looking like our Father. If the checks on your checklist are a little lacking, examine yourself and talk to the Father. Don’t talk about talking to the Father. Spend time in His Presence, so that He recognizes who you are and the enemy does too. Spending time with God causes the answers to your issues to be personally delivered directly to you from His throne room.

Being true to yourself and honestly knowing where you are in relation to the Father moves you forward into the future He has for you. Stop lip syncing your faith, and call to Him so He can show you great and mighty things from right where you are! I’ll let you in on a secret. If you’re not truthful, your enemy is not deceived, and neither is your God. You’re only fooling yourself. So stop it! The Lord is positioning you in His kingdom. Will you prove to Him you’re worthy of your calling or continue perpetrating the fraud? He’s waiting. Yeah, He’s talking to you.
